Black History Month 2022

Remembering Black History Month: February 2022

The Gwinnett Republican Party celebrated Black History in a big way in February, 2022.  We started with a wonderful breakfast Feb. 5 featuring Melvin Everson and Rev. Garland Hunt and concluded the festivities with an amazing Black History Celebration Banquet on Feb. 19 with Dr. Lisa Babbage, Rev. Dean Nelson and Dr. Alveda King!

We invited middle and high school students to engage with Black History with a writing contest offering $750 in prizes.

The history contest was co-sponsored by Truth in Education, Conservative Republican Women of North Atlanta, and No Left Turn in Education.

The contest finalists took home $750!

We were pleased to receive recognition by local business organizations, media, Georgia Republicans from around the state and our outreach to the Black Community was even recognized by Politico.

Thanks everyone for your hard work.  It was a great celebration and coming together to reaffirm the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr!
